Reading

Reading is the foundation of most learning after 2nd grade. Students who can read fluently and comprehend material do better in school.

Reading programs are:

  • Created to improve phonemic awareness, word and structural analysis, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension skills.

  • Focused on the science of reading and recommendations from sources such as

    -Natalie Wexler (The Knowledge Gap)

  • Rooted in building positive relationships with students to improve confidence

  • Complemented by consistent communication with a child/adolescent’s classroom teachers (with signed parent authorization)
